ok i have really thick curly hair. and most of the time i like to leave it down. but i dont know what to do with it. because sometimes i get it right but then other times it poofs up. i use sun-silk anti poof cream. and some REALLY expensive mousse called CURLY SEXY HAIR. i used to use gel but it makes my hair dry and it flakes. also i put some conditioner in my hair after i get out of the shower and scrunch my hair and then let it air dry. so i dont know. but what are some cute things i can do with my NATURAL hair besides straightening it all the time. PICTURES would be helpful too! oh and i use pantene pro-v for women of color (in the brown bottle) so if you know any other good shampoos and conditioners thats good too =]
Curly thick hair?
I have really thick wavy hair that likes to frizz up like nobody's business. I find that using Garnier Fructise shampoo and conditioner for frizzy hair really helps out a lot, and using some sort of curl activator helps as well. I would go to a decent salon and ask them for help with products.
I'm wondering, are you black, or do you just use shampoo for that really thick hair type? I'm just wondering because it can make a big difference in handling your hair. My best friend is white, but she uses the same type of shampoo for her hair. If you are black, or at least have that same sort of thick, course hair, I would DEFINITELY advise going to a salon and asking about products to help manage your curls, because most over the counter products unfortunately are almost entirely formulated for the type of hair your average white person has. Also, sometimes hair just can't be tamed with over-the-counter products, and a stylist can help you figure out what will control your hair.
Like I said earlier, though, I'm a REALLY big fan of Garnier Fructise hair products, and as far as salon products go, you can't go wrong with Redken.

I have thick curly hair, just look at my 360 blog..there are a few pictures of me and i use l'oreal springing curls and nexxus shampoo and conditioner, them products rock...My daughter, also has ringlet curls in her hair so i know what i am talking about. Put it in a jaw bannana clip in your hair for a updo(put hair in low pony then twist it up in the back and put in the clip and leave little curls on each side...Also, put a barrette for your hair type in your hair in the middle back part and that is also a cute do

I have naturally curly hair. When I want a change I wear a thin headband on my head. You can find all sorts of colors at Claires for about $3.
Make sure that you don't slick your hair down with the headband. The sides of your bangs should be left down in tendrils.
When I am having a bad hair day, I put my hair in a loose pony tail at the nape of my neck and set the look off with a pair of big earrings.

I'm mixed too! Chinese and black w/ really thick hair. I always want to leave my hair down but I'm a little self concious (sp) about the poof, so if you don't mind could you tell me how you do your hair? And also if you don't mind, could you send me a picture so I could see how it looks (you can scratch out your face if you like). I'd really apperciate it.
Well, you pretty much use %26amp; do the same thing I do and it works for me (for a ponytail anyway), so no advice there!
Yeah, so I suppose I didn't really answer any questions, sorry D: But I would really apperciate it if you could share some tips with me :D
You can just email me: samanthamoohoo@yahoo.com
And if anyone else reads this, please email me if you have any styles for curly hair (please include products and how to do) since I'll probably never find this board again. Thanks!
