When did women become ashamed of their pubic hair?

I don't understand why the "bare down there" look has become so popular. It seems like every woman in the world has gone along with this. I know some will say it is a hygeine issue, but there has to be more to it. I think a woman with a neatly groomed patch of pubic hair is far sexier than someone with a "smoothy." Ladies, any comments? No wiseass remarks please.

I get a weird rash when I shave my legs, so no way would I ever shave there.

I hear some men like that, but I have only been with my husband and he is not into that.

It creeps me out a little (and this is not meant to imply anything about people who do shave pubic hair because it is my own personal feeling) because...well, who else has no public hair? Little girls.

And it really isn't more hygenic. Pubic hair performs much the same function as nose hairs- to prevent bacteria and other foreign substanced from entering the vagina and causing infections.

Since guys began to complain about it. Most guys don't like it completely bald, they like a little patch.

I've been shaving mine since I was 13, I just love the feel of a hairless body and that includes pubic and it doesn't make me feel like a little girl at all, in fact quite the opposite. It's liberating. I enjoy shaving that area more than I do my legs, lol.

it's just to get rid of ,dreaded winter- bush.............................

Well I agree with you there. If its bare its almost like a child or something..I do have it bare by the way only b/c I cant let it grow back cuz it itches. I dont think most men prefer it bare just groomed. In all fairness I expect my man to groom himself as well.

Well, I'm sure some of it is a fad. Some it may be to keep hair from escaping skimpy bikinis.

I've been shaving a long time before that and, yes, it is because it is more hygienic. (Nothing like hairs to make - er, um - liquid of various sorts - to cling. And any smells to linger.)

When did women become ashamed of their pubic hair?

It grosses me out that's why.

You feel cleaner when you're shaven.

Most men prefer it too. Or at least the ones I've been with have.

What do you think about armpit hair then?

the reason I shave really doesn't have anything to do with men, I shave my whole body.

It's also weird putting on lotion when your hairy.

I don't really care too much how a woman wears her 'spot' as long as she's still herself. It probably is more hygenic to shave and all, considering hair catches dirt and dirt can cause problems. I sort of think pubic hair on a woman is kind of cute, but at the same time, whatever makes her comfortable. I'm a mostly non-sexual kind of guy, so it's not like my girlfriend'll hear me complain about it either way.

I agree..it's kind of pointless to have it all off..leave at least a little there
